About the Rosatutu Studios

Rosatutu Studios - where your dance dreams begin...

Rosatutu Studios is a well established dance school located in Springwood and classes are held at two venues – the main Studio at Christ Church Hall, 345 Great Western Highway, Springwood and at Ellison School, Springwood.  The dance school opened in 1991. We offer professional tuition in:-

  • Classical Ballet
  • Jazz Ballet
  • Contemporary dance

Our aim is to provide excellence in dance training in all styles to develop the best technical ability from each student together with encouragement for their enjoyment and love of dance delivered in a safe and caring environment. This enables those students wanting to pursue their ambitions and make dance their career, to follow those dreams.

Several of our students are doing just that!

Students from Rosatutu Studios are currently overseas dancing with the Hamburg Ballet or have gone on to continue full-time training at the prestigious Tanya Pearson Coaching Academy and Alegria Dance schools in Sydney and the Dance Factory in Melbourne and have completed dance degrees at UWS, UNSW, The Victorian College of the Arts, WAAPA in Perth and ACPE Academy (Australian College of Physical Education).

For students coming to class for the sheer love of dance there is the inspiration of new challenges combined with fun, excitement, friendship and enjoyment.

Classes

The classical ballet syllabus taught is the world renowned Cecchetti Ballet syllabus.

Classical Ballet students are accepted from 3 years and can continue their dance training up to Advanced level.

Students are accepted from 6 years+ for Jazz classes. We recommend that they undertake classical ballet classes before this age to obtain a good grounding in dance technique.

Contemporary students need to be 11 years old to commence classes and again we recommend prior training in classical technique.

Recreational students are welcome in all classes. Enrolments will be accepted for 1 or 2 classical classes per week only but those students should just enjoy the classes, participate in the Concert and understand they will not be eligible for ballet examinations.  There are also Adult classical classes on Wednesday evenings for dancers wanting to continue class for their love of dance.

Please see the Enrolment Page for the current amended Timetable and details of the different classes offered.

Classical ballet Examinations are not compulsory but are offered, for Pre-Primary to Advanced levels, for those students meeting the requirements in attaining and demonstrating technique and dance etiquette acceptable for examination candidates.

Teachers

Principal, Rosalind Dorman, teaches all the classical classes. With over 30 years of experience teaching dance in Australia, England and New Zealand she holds a number of Cecchetti Ballet Australia and ISTD qualifications in dance teaching to a high level.

The Jazz, Contemporary and Eisteddfod coaching classes are all in the hands of enthusiastic and dedicated teachers, Scarlett Abel (Jazz), Natalie Wadick (Contemporary) and Fiona James (Adult classes) are qualified to tertiary level dance with years of experience to teach these styles.

Our pianist, Mrs Helen Dowe, plays regularly for the classical classes and this is of major benefit to students in developing their musicality which is such an essential aspect of dance and dance training.

Terms

Generally the dance school Term follows the Government schools terms. Some holidays classes may be held when necessary. The dance school is closed on Public holidays unless otherwise advised.

The dance school year of classes ends with the Annual Concert. There is a Photo Day following the Concert, often in January, where students can have their photo taken in costume.
